Roles on Swan 

These are the many hats you may wear on the day of duty on Swan:

Swan Skipper

Responsible for the safe passage of Swan from berth to course, as required on course, then return to harbour berth, in accordance with safe operating standards, rules and regulations

Race Officer 

In charge of the race and any other crew associated with race management on Swan

Determines the course and conducts safety briefing for all Skippers and Crews, and Swan.

Crew

Assists in operating the vessel and the race by
preparing and making good all equipment including fenders, berthing or mooring lines, anchors, flags, anchor and marks.

conducting the race by contributing to Start, Finish, Safety at sea and Recording results.

Some tasks undertaken by the Race Officers include

·         Attending and lead briefing

·         Setting out to sea and returning safely – boat operation

·         Setting a starting position and start line (mark) – on station

·         Communications with the fleet

·         Displaying Signal Flags

·         Recording start times

·         Recording POB

·         Recording Timer

·         Monitoring Channel 73

·         Responding to calls for assistance

·         Recording finishing times

·         Collating and recording results for Handicapper Using SailRes

·         Recording Boat log

·         Tidying and leaving the boat
