Invitation to attend a presentation on sarcopenia at the QLYC clubhouse on Friday October 3rd at 5.30pm.
QLYC would like to invite all club members and friends to attend this presentation. The invitation is also extended to all members and friends of all local maritime organisations such as Queenscliff Coastguard and Queenscliff Cruising Yacht Club. (QCYC)
Sarcopenia is a progressive condition of muscle loss that results in reduced muscle mass, strength, and function, most commonly associated with ageing and beginning at age 30.

Join Senior Physiotherapist Mitch Hodgson for a practical and eye-opening look at the simple strategies that help sailors stay strong, avoid injuries, and keep enjoying every moment on the water- no matter your age or activity, from racing yachts, kayaks, motor boats to weekend sailboarding.
Mitch will unpack the key physical qualities that matter most at sea: grip strength, core stability, and balance. You’ll discover how small changes off the water can make a big difference on it- helping you move with confidence, protect your body, and extend the years you can actively contribute to your crew, club, and community.
The QLYC club house, including the bar, will be open at 5.00pm. “Nibbles” will be provided. The presentation will begin at 5.30pm and last for approximately 40 minutes, followed by the opportunity to ask questions, socialise and network with local maritime organisations.
Provisional enquiries last week with all QLYC Skippers and local boating organisations found that there was huge demand for this presentation.

Parking will not be a problem and although access by dinghy from QCYC is possible it is challenging at night and low water, so we are happy to organise transport from the jetty opposite QCYC for any attendees who have their yachts at QCYC.
